County selection:The home page offers two methods for selecting a county. The first is to choose the county by clicking its name on the map with the mouse. The second option is to select the county in the drop down list box and press the Search button.
Search button:After choosing a county in the drop down list box, click the Search button and the application will advance to the page to enter search criteria.

SEARCH CRITERIA
This page provides several ways to search for real property. You may search based on Owner Name, Property Address, Parcel ID number, Subdivision Name, Classification or Sale Date, either individually or in combination. In addition, you may sort your selection by one of those criteria. You do not need to enter something in all of the search criteria, but something must be entered in at least one of them.

Choose a County:This drop down list box will contain the county selected on the Home Page. To change to a different county, use the mouse to click on the new county name. (Note - Be sure to check the county name if you press the RESET button, as in some situations the county name will reset back to a previously selected county.)
Owner Name:Enter the last name of the property owner followed by an initial or first name. Example: SMITH J or SMITH JOHN.

At least one character must be entered to search by owner name. Be as specific as possible without unnecessarily entering more characters than needed. Entering too few characters can find more parcels than you are looking for, and entering too many characters can result in the desired records not being located. DO NOT use punctuation such as commas or periods in this field. You can enter up to 26 characters in this field.

Property Address:Enter the street name first, then the number if desired. Example: MAIN ST 1200.

At least one character must be entered to search by property address. Typically, searching by street name alone without the street suffix (ST, RD, etc.) is desirable, as not all properties have a street number and there may be variations in how the suffix is presented. Be as specific as possible without unnecessarily entering more characters than needed. DO NOT use punctuation such as commas or periods in this field. You can enter up to 26 characters in this field.

Parcel ID:The Parcel ID number consists of three elements:
Control Map:Enter three numbers with up to two optional letters following. Example: 012 or 100A
Group:Enter up to two optional letters. Example: B or AA.
Parcel:Enter five numbers with decimal. Example: 025.00.

You may search by Control Map alone, Control Map and Group, or Control Map, Group and Parcel.

Subdivision Name:Enter the subdivision name. Example: RIVER OAKS.

At least one character must be entered to search by subdivision name. Be as specific as possible without unnecessarily entering more characters than needed. You can enter up to 26 characters in this field.

Classification:Classification must be combined with Owner, Property Address, Parcel ID or Subdivision criteria in order to be used in the search. Select the desired classification from the drop down list box. Leaving the classification set to “ALL CLASSES” will return parcels of every property classification.
Sale Date:Sale Date must be combined with Owner, Property Address, Parcel ID or Subdivision criteria in order to be used in the search. To search for properties that have sold, enter the sale date range within which you wish to search. Dates must be entered in the following format: mm/dd/yyyy (Example: 01/31/2000). The ending date (Through) must be greater than or equal to the beginning date (From), and the two dates can be no more than 3 years apart.
Sort Selection by:The data in the list will be sorted by the option selected. Click one of the option buttons to select a sort criterion. The sort options are Owner (the default), Property Address, Parcel ID, Subdivision, Classification or Sale Date. Only one sort option can be selected.
SEARCH button:Click the SEARCH button to find and list the parcels matching your search criteria. It is recommended that you review your search criteria before clicking the SEARCH button. Check for spelling and typographical errors to ensure that all information is entered correctly.

Pressing the SEARCH button without entering search criteria will display the following message: “You Must Enter Search Criteria.” If you receive this message, click the New Search button to return and then enter your search criteria.

RESET button:Click this button to clear all criteria.(Note - Be sure to check the county name after you press the RESET button, as in some situations the county name will reset back to a previously selected county.)

PARCEL LIST
This page lists the records found in the database that match your search criteria. If the parcel you are looking for is not listed, or if there are too many parcels in the list, return to the search criteria page and refine your criteria.

The parcel list provides some basic information about each property selected in order to help you find the desired parcel.

Owner Name:Name of the owner as of January 1.
Property Address:Primary street address of the property.
Parcel ID:Control Map, Group, Parcel number (including property identifier) and Special Interest (SI). Property identifier is a single letter that may be found at the end of the parcel number denoting a special type of property (C = Condominium; M = Mineral interest; L = Leasehold interest; T = Trailer). A parcel record may be divided into more than one record having the same Control Map, Group and Parcel numbers but different Special Interest numbers due to special situations such as mixed use (for example, commercial and residential) or being divided by a jurisdiction boundary (for example, a portion lies inside city limits and the remainder lies outside city limits).
Subdivision name:Primary subdivision in which the parcel is located.
Lot number:Lot number within the subdivision.
Sale Date:Date of the most sale on file for the parcel.

Above the parcel list near the top of the page is some general information:

County Number:A numeric code used to identify the county.
County Name:The name of the county.
Tax Year:The tax year to which the information applies.
Record Count:The number of records in the database that match your selection criteria.
Data Last Updated:Date the database for this county was last updated.

When you find a parcel in the list for which you wish to see more information, click the option button in the leftmost column for that parcel. This will bring up the Parcel Detail for the selected parcel. You may click the Back button of your browser to return to the list, from where you may select another parcel to view. Clicking the Back button from the parcel list page will return you to the search criteria page with your existing criteria intact.

New Search:To clear the selected records and criteria and enter new search criteria, click the New Search button.
Links:To return to the beginning of this application, click on Return to Real Estate Assessment Data Home Page. You may also select one of the other three State of Tennessee web sites listed.
